I have been involved with the development of Australian underground music in
Brisbane and Sydney for over 20 years. I hold a passion for developing and
encouraging original artists outside of the typical music industry
expectations and restrictions. My skills include writing, audio
engineering, producing and playing guitar. I can record, mix and master
within my own state of the art digital studio. I am an accomplished
guitarist who can cover a range of styles.
I have produced albums with many original artists who have gone
on to success both nationally and internationally. These artists
include The New Christs, Ed Kuepper, The Triffids,
Damien Lovelock, Louis Tillet and The Divas.
As a band member, I have played with a wide range of artists
including The Saints, Bo Diddley, X-Men (Brisbane) and Strangelove.
I studied jazz for three years cumulating at the Don Andrews
school in Sydney where I had lessons from George Golla,
the Australian jazz legend.
This provided me with a strong understanding of music theory and guitar
technique. I played jazz in Sydney during this period before moving into
the burgeoning underground rock scene.
My current studio was built in 2003 and allows me to create high quality
recordings. I have produced and recorded my own material for The Silver
Tears, plus albums for original and cover bands. An interesting project I
am still undertaking is the recording of over 22 one hour radio shows on JS
Bach. A number of these have already been broadcast on 4MBS.
"Wheel in the sky" is the title of the newly released album by The Silver
Tears, a studio band. The nine original songs were written by
Murray Kidd and myself and feature guest artists. This album is now
available and the title track is included here as a
download (5meg mp3 zip).
I am now collaborating with writers in Melbourne and Pristina Kosovo working
on original songs with a variety of styles from country, jazz/blues through
to European ambient music. Murray Kidd and I are also writing songs for the
next Silver Tears album. My independent stance means I cannot rely on music
as a primary means of support however this independence has resulted in a
freedom to pursue music forms that stimulate me..
