Modus Operandi

In writing, performance and photographic images I use popular culture icons
in a humorous way to explore contemporary issues of social justice. My
Wonder Woman character looks at the high expectations placed on women in
both the work place and the domestic sphere, explores homophobia and racism
and encourages people to be active cultural producers rather than just passive
consumers. Barbie as a character offers a platform to satirise the bigotry and
prejudice of dominant culture and Lillith is effective to highlight the lack of
dominant female powerful spiritual figures in mainstream religion. My 2006
Brisbane Festival Theatre Fringe show KICK KISS KILL develops these three
characters into one three act performance at Metro Arts.
