I am a self-taught Brisbane-born artist. Having experimented with a wide range of media,
I have found pastels to be my preferred medium. My method of completely covering
the working area with layers of pastel has often resulted in my finished works being
mistaken for oil paintings.
As a realist artist, I always strive to create highly detailed works. Much of my
inspiration is drawn from the spirituality and harmony of Australias land and sea.
I particularly love the challenge of creating the movement of water in my artworks,
and the play of light and shadow to create high contrast images. Some of my original
artworks have embraced the Red Centre, tropical north Queensland, familiar Brisbane
scenes, rural properties, and coastal regions.
Although the majority of my works are sea and landscapes, I also create eye-catching
surreal and contemporary works. These dream-like images are often portrayed in
vivid colour and serve as an outlet for my more imaginative side.I find it exciting and
challenging to create vistas that do not exist in reality. These artworks have a personality
all of their own.
I have had several successful solo exhibitions of my work, including shows in the Myer
Centre (Brisbane City) and Oriel Gallery (Ascot). I have exhibited and sold works at several
other art shows and galleries, including the Courier-Mail and Sunday-Mail Art Shows, Royal
Queensland Show, St Josephs Nudgee College Art & Crafts Show, St Pauls School
Art Show, Abused Child Trust Art Show, and the Pine Rivers Annual Art Awards.
