Visual Art – My art practice consists of imaginings and comment on biotechnological

Modus operandi

My curious and empathetic approach in terms of my mode
of operations refers to personal life experiences and imaginings.
I see myself as an artist and observer who creates art that is
based on these imaginings of the imminent future. I am intrigued
by biotechnologies, bio-cybernetics and the future role and
appearance of the post -human being. I relate to post-humanist
theories with how future medical and bio technological advancement
will either evolve, transform or effect biological forms particularly of
late the hybridise outcomes which reference xenotransplantation
procedures.

I am a strong believer of the axiom- “there is no other". I feel
there is a desperate need for equal opportunity for all artists and
all individuals.

Work examples

The works I have displayed in the gallery are from my Hybrid
Passing, Huppet and Happet Series which demotes the role
xenotransplantation plays in contemporary medical science
that features, imagined hybrid animal/human patients and
inter-species mix. I create creatures usually in relief, 2D
puppet format, which are rendered from my own drawings,
X-Rays and photocopies of medical text. I manipulate the
text then cut and paste the imagery to wood, and then fix
the wooden forms together with screws which facilitate
movement. The result is enigmatical amalgams, half skeletal,
half formed science specimens. Also I render android
automatons, cyborgs, techno-metamorphose and any
synthesis creatures animal, human, machine.
I frequently reference actual documented conditions or
phenomenon recognized throughout medical science history.
