Genre

Visual arts – painting, drawing. Mainly acrylic on stretched canvas.
Sometimes realism and impressionist, I’m currently experimenting
with abstract. Also digital artwork using Photoshop.

Skills

Graphic design as well as commercial artwork skills (advertising
concept work) from London. Photoshop illustration skills.

Qualifications

I regard myself as self taught – as soon as I could pick up a pen as
a child I started drawing and would do so at every opportunity. On the
academic front, I studied art to A-Level (UK) and Advertising: Design
& Illustration at Diploma level (UK). I started painting at 16 years old
after child and teen years of drawing. I have developed my own painting
style over the last 14 years. No one has ever taught me to paint,
however, a lot of people have given me excellent guidance – I believe
that drawing skills must be constantly practiced and an artist can never
do too much drawing or observing.

Modus Operandi

At school I started painting to the influence of Hopper and artists of
similar styles. I very much enjoy paint slabs for realism. I moved this
style into my commercial work that I produced using marker pens for
ad agencies in London. As far as abstract work goes, it really has to
stem from a visual scene I’ve recently experienced or some other
experience that impacts on me.
