As a painter I'm quite versatile and work in various fields
including large scale children's murals, house paint
splattered abstracts of all sizes 5x5cm-5x5m, oil painted
illustration/fantasy/surrealism, and figurative and portraiture
in both oils and charcoal.
My figurative work is my most consuming passion. Starting by
finding a model who inspires me, mostly women of all shapes
and sizes at the moment. I'm really getting into veins and
the strange little lumps and bumps we all have that make us
truly individual. I then find an inspiring setting, this almost
always revolves around a corner , nook or cranny that catches a
nice shaft of afternoon light. The perfect light is what will make
or break a painting in my opinion. I love the tension and mood set
by the contrast between deep shadows and glowing light. I think it
reflects the dichotomies with in us all.
