Flower and Willow World,
gouache on wc paper, 297x420mmUF, 2005.

My current work has been influenced by an 18 month stay in Japan
and travel through other parts of Asia, thus Asian themes
and subjects have been emerging from my canvases.
Utilizing skills and mediums learned from overseas my work
has become even more eclectic as I explore the
language of Art through many mediums.

Since I’ve been back I’ve traveled to Hobart, and to Forbes, and my
work reflects my travels both nationally and abroad. I'm
currently exhibiting through to February 2006 at the
Hotel Grand Chancellor. You can view the invitation here.

I have a love of architecture and human’s relationship and interaction with it.
I enjoy learning about the geography and cultural history of an area
and observing the style of architecture that results from this
and its evolution over time.

More Precious than Gold,
coffee on illustration board.
I am also working with coffee as a painting medium. The
resultant deep, rich sepia tones loan themselves well to
scenes of outback Australia and old, grand, sandstone
buildings and wooden structures. Coffee is natural
and earthy and this feeling emanates from the
finished works in a way no other medium can.

Aunt Helens Kitchen,
coffee and ink on wc paper,
420x594 cmUF, 2005.

My current exhibition brings together my latest work for the first time since
returning to Brisbane. I paint things that I see that I consider
to be beautiful, some images are this, and nothing more.
I want people to see it and realize that beauty is all
around them and that when you can freely perceive it,
it needn’t be looked for but just come naturally.

Other images I like to add a touch of the surreal to by using,
interesting views, unlikely angles and incongruous objects,
as dreams and imagination play such an important
part in my perception of the world.

With my art I hope to show people the world through my eyes
as they follow my journeys. I want viewers to challenge
the everyday, to look with their mind and heart, not
their eyes and to believe that there is still magic
left in the world.

My Journey continues to this day as I consume and absorb
as much as I can to fill my insatiable appetite.
